The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is rolling out in stages across Australia and now it’s available right across NSW. But what is it and how can it help you?
The NDIS is an insurance scheme for people with a disability, their families and their support workers. It’s an important milestone towards enabling you to set goals and live life on your terms.
The scheme offers funding for what are known as “reasonable and necessary supports” to achieve your goals and get out into the community.
Through Better Caring, you can use your NDIS funding to build your own community of paid supports. Maybe you need some help at home or running your business. Maybe you want to get out and about more to see friends, take a class or do some volunteering.
You might already be working with people you like. You might want to find others. We are not an agency. We provide a platform for you to choose and engage your own team, from a growing community of care and support workers.
To find out how we can help, check our guide. We have different options depending on how your funds are managed, so call us on 1300 73 65 73 and we can have a chat about your options and what you’re looking for.
To access the NDIS you need to be a resident or citizen of Australia under 65. You need support to do everyday things because of an impairment or condition that is likely to be permanent, and support now may help reduce your support needs in the future.
Even if it’s not in your area yet, you can make an access request up to six months before it is. And there’s no need for forms. If you prefer, you can do this over the phone or authorise a family member, support worker or advocate to help you.
Call us on 1300 73 65 73 to chat about how to design your dream team of paid support workers.
