Behind the community: Meet Paloma

Meet Paloma1)

Meet Paloma – writer, competitive body builder, ex-ballerina and valuable member of Better Caring’s Client Engagement Team. For Paloma, no two days of work are the same. By creating connections, giving support tips and advice to clients, Paloma helps create new support opportunities for clients on Better Caring.

I started working at Better Caring casually in March 2018. I didn’t think I could fall in love with my job so quickly. Now, I work full-time and get to speak to incredibly amazing people every day. Working at Better Caring has introduced me to an exciting, evolving industry.

A typical day at work for me includes helping Better Caring clients with their questions, and welcoming new clients to our community. Speaking to clients means I’m always learning something new and meeting a new person each day.

Building a business has always been my aspiration – that’s why I saw Better Caring as a perfect fit because it offered a kind of support that allows independent workers to create their own business opportunities.

I think the most satisfying part of my work is being able to give people the support they require by helping them complete their profile and giving them advice on the support that’s best for them. I love that I can be a part of a client’s support journey and that I can be a solution to their needs.

I have a Russian background and I grew up learning ballet which helped me become disciplined and driven – these traits definitely sparked my interest in body building. I fell in love with body building so quickly, and that’s given me the determination, resilience and mindset to believe that no goal is out of reach.

The best parts of my day are my conversations with clients which are always filled with laughter – there’s not one time I don’t get off the phone without explaining the origins of my name!

More than ever, the industry I’m working in is becoming so important. For clients to be able to willingly choose support on platforms like Better Caring means we’re opening up doors of opportunity for clients. Better Caring gives people freedom of choice and I think this really sets us apart from other providers.

I love speaking to so many clients in a day. It feels great to know that I can be a simple but important aid and that I’ve played a role in improving a person’s quality of life.

Paloma and the rest of the team at Better Caring are committed to connecting independent support workers with searching for disability support, aged care or short-term support. To discover how easily you can make support connections, visit Better Caring today.
