Signs you’re ready to work for yourself

Signs your ready to work for yourself

Many Better Caring Support Workers say that they have always wanted to work independently. It wasn’t a matter of if, but when. But others aren’t so sure. How do you know you’re ready to work for yourself? This is what we’ve heard from Better Caring workers about why they decided to leave their jobs behind and sign up.

You don’t want to have a boss. You want to be the boss.

You want to be in charge. You want more control. Maybe you’re feeling under-appreciated. You work long hours and the pay doesn’t seem to match. For whatever reason, maybe you’ve been out of the workforce for a while and you don’t see yourself going back to work for someone else.

You want a change but you don’t know where to start.

Or you don’t think traditional employment suits you. Maybe you’ve worked as a coordinator. Or a registered nurse. Or practised as a physiotherapist. And you want to use your skills in a different way.

You want out of the ‘9 to 5.

You’re craving variety in your work week. The good news is, for Better Caring independent support workers, no two days are the same. The beauty of the Better Caring model is that you choose when and where you work. If you want to keep working for an employer part time, and find clients through Better Caring to supplement your income, you can. You also have the option of bringing existing clients with you, if they want to use their funding through the Better Caring platform to continue to be supported by you.

You’ve done your homework.

You know what you need to do to upskill, what the opportunity is in your area and what you should charge. It’s like you’ve had a bag packed for a long time and you know exactly where you’re going when you open the front door. You can think of more reasons why than why not. You are resourceful. And you’re willing to learn all about how to manage your own tax, super and hourly rates.
