Heart of Fiji is the first ever Fijian tour company to specialise in working with people who have intellectual disabilities. Heart of Fiji ‘s Director and Tour Leader, John De Giusti has over 15 years experience in the disability and travel sector and is a registered care worker on Better Caring. John is passionate about “giving clients the adventure of their lives”. This year he has successfully completed three tours and is currently organising an upcoming tour early next year. Spaces are limited; you will need to book by contacting John to claim your Better Caring discount. (Limited time offer – for current Clients of Better Caring only).
The tour is over seven days, giving people with an intellectual disability the opportunity to do group activities such as: snorkelling, village visits, sand boarding, billi billi rafting, village tours, stand up paddle boarding classes, dancing, fishing, and kayaking. John modifies each tour to cater for the individual needs and requirements of each client. The tour consists of Australian and Fijian support staff who have vast care work experience and qualifications (references and police checks are available on request). All support staff and tour operators are backed by insurance for your piece of mind. John is also willing to give back to the Fijian community, where a portion of his profits goes towards assisting the local Fijian disability schools and organisations.
Heart of Fiji also offers day tours in Sydney – where people with an intellectual disability can make new friends and meet people on a fun filled day of bushwalking, sport and kite flying in the Royal National Park. Price is $28 per hour ($280 pp. for the entire tour).
