The Queen’s birthday (12th June 2017) long weekend is fast-approaching. Don’t let the wet weather discourage you! If you’re over 65, we’ve put together a few ideas for fun activities to make this long weekend special.

1. Sydney Film Festival

It looks like it will be perfect weather to watch movies this long weekend. Luckily, the Sydney Film Festival is now underway, showcasing over 200 of the world’s best films. Concession tickets are $17. Click here to view the program.

2. Vivid

Don’t miss Vivid Sydney, the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas! The festival opens every night from 6pm to 11pm, and runs until 17th June. Click here to view our helpful guide on accessibility this year at Vivid.

3. Bondi Markets 

On Saturday from 9am – 1pm, a visit to Bondi Farmers Markets is a must! You’ll be treated to an array of seasonal fruits, vegetables, meats, flowers, artisan breads, homemade jams and much more.

Sunday’s from 10am – 4pm; you’ll find clothing from up and coming designers, jewellery, exotic imports and art… amongst other things sure to delight!

Bondi Markets is located at Bondi Beach Public School on Campbell Parade; across the road from Bondi Beach. If the weather prevails, a leisurely walk along the Bondi to Bronte coastline is breathtaking – in 1.5 hours you will experience the most beautiful sights Sydney has to offer.

4. Sydney Fish Markets

The Sydney Fish Market is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere! Try some of the market’s scrumptious seafood options for an extra special lunch this long weekend. The Sydney Fish Market is located at the corner of Bank Street and Pyrmont Bridge Road, Sydney; open from 7am – 4pm daily.

5. Art Gallery of NSW

Located next to the Royal Botanical Gardens is one of Australia’s leading and most treasured art galleries, The Art Gallery of NSW. Entry to the gallery is free and open every day from 10am till 5pm.
