The Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association (AHHA) has re-launched the Palliative Care Online Training Portal, funded by the Australian Government.
The Portal provides free training for carers, community and aged care workers, students, volunteers, family members and clinicians who want to build their skills in caring for someone with a life-limiting illness.
The portal covers topics such as:
– The needs of people and their families as they approach end of life
– Assessment skills
– End of life conversations
– Self-care and building resilience
– Pain management and recognising deteriorating patients.
AHHA Chief Executive Alison Verhoeven said in ‘the last 5 years, over 35,000 people, many of whom are carers, have developed skills in delivering palliative care by using this training—the feedback received has been overwhelmingly positive’.
The new refreshed portal has recently re-launched and is now more accessible and technologically robust.
